An Experimental Study of the Influences of the Parathyroid Gland upon the Allergic Changes of the Uterus.

Abstract
Under the guidance of prof. I.S. Yun, a series of animal experiments has been carried out to determine the influence of parathyroid gland upon the allergic changes of uterus,
Materials
Rabbits, weighting approximately 2kg were used.
The antigen used was fresh horse serum prepared by the Korean National Institute of Prevention Infectious Diseases, and given the parathyroid gland (Park Davis, U.S.A.) powder.
Methods
1) Non-sensitized group
This group was not sensitized and used as the control. A single injection of normal horse serum 0. lcc per kg of body weight was performed into the muscle layer of uterus.
2) Sensitized group
In normal rabbits normal horse serum 1.Occ per kg of body weight was injected subcutaneously into the abdominal wall once daily for 4 days.
2 weeks after the sensitization, reinjection was carrried out in the following manner normal horse serum O. lcc per kg of body weight was injected into the muscle layer and was used as the control.
3) Parathyroidectomized group
After the left parathyroidectomy, sensitization and reinjection were performed like the 2 nd group.
4) Parathyroid homo-transplanted group
After the parathyroid homo-transplantation, sensitization and reinjection were carried out samely.
5) Parathyroidectomized and auto-transplanted group
After the parathyroidectomy, parathyroid glands were auto-transplanted, and the sensitization and reinjection were carried out samely.
6) Parathyroid gland administered group
By the sensitization parathyroid gland was given orally through the experiment 0.5 grain per kg every day.
7) After the parathyroidectomy parathyroid gland administered group
5 days after the parathyroidectomy, by the sensitization parathyroid gland was given orally through the experiment samel
After the reinjection of the horse serum into the uterus muscle, rabbits were killed at intervals of 3, 6. 12, 24, 48, 72 hrs., and 1, 2 week by air embolism.
And then, uterus wall which were injected of horse serum were excised and examined macroscopically and microscopically for the histological examination, they were fixed in 10% formalin solution and stained by the hematoxylin-eosin and the Van Giesons method.
Results
1) Severe allergic changes occured on the uterus wall with the reinjection of horse serum after sensitized rabbits with the same horse serum.
2) These allergic changes were severe in the parathyroidectomized rabbits than in the normal rabbits.
3) Milder allergic changes occured in the rabbits which were given parathyroid gland orally than in the normal rabbits.
4) Parathyroid gland inhibits the allergic changes of the uterus.
